Early in the morning on Aug. 4, 2022, the small town of Laurel was shocked when four community members were slain in their homes.

Fires were started at both homes after the murders.

Evidence later led authorities to Jason Jones’ home, which started a standoff between him and the SWAT team.

Eventually, authorities entered the home and found him with severe burns. He was taken to a Lincoln hospital before being lodged in jail.

Jones was convicted of four counts of first-degree murder last year. He is set to be sentenced in November.
