Windy And Cool Monday- Rain Tuesday Morning
Gusty winds will stick around through the day Monday. A cold front moves from west to east this afternoon and evening, bringing dry, windy and rainy conditions. Expect those winds to stay strong into the evening before gradually easing overnight.
A cold front will slowly move from west to east this afternoon. Showers and a few thunderstorms are expected to develop around 6 to 7 p.m. out west, with areas like McCook, North Platte, and Kearney possibly seeing a sub-severe storm or two. Rain showers will continue overnight and into Tuesday morning, especially across eastern and southeast Nebraska.
Rain totals will range from 0.25″- 0.75″+ for most of us through Tuesday morning. The best chance to see half an inch or more will be along and south of 1-80.
This afternoon, temperatures will reach the low to upper 50s, with a few spots reaching the lower 60s under mostly cloudy skies. Some light drizzle will occur through the morning hours. Showers and thunderstorms are expected between 4PM Monday and 1 PM Tuesday. Tonight will be a bit cooler especially out west, with lows in the 30s and 40s with rain showers expected.
Temperatures will stay relatively consistent in the 50s. For the rest of October, highs are expected to stay fairly consistent, ranging from the lower 50s to around 60 degrees. Winds will try and warm a few of us up into the 60s.
Tonight, expect temperatures in the low to upper 40s under cloudy skies and a SE breeze 10-20 mph. The cold front will make temperatures out west a bit cooler, in the 30s.
On this day back in 1980, Lincoln saw some cold and messy weather! About an inch of rain fell, along with 3.3 inches of snow. That was 45 years ago today — a chilly reminder that fall can turn wintry in a hurry across the Capital City!
Showers and a few thunderstorms will develop out west Monday evening and move east through Tuesday morning. It’ll stay breezy through Wednesday before sunshine makes a return to the forecast. Halloween looks dry but on the chilly side for those trick-or-treaters. Then as we head into November, a warm-up is on the way — highs climbing back into the 60s and even some 70s out west!
