Winter is coming
We have one more day to enjoy the mild temperatures, then the bottom falls out. Highs Friday through Wednesday will be in the 40s! There’s also a chance for some rain changing to snow Saturday into Sunday. We’ll be dry all of next week.
26 years ago, we saw a devastating storm hit much of eastern Nebraska. Above are some of the snowfall totals from the October 97 snowstorm.
A very different day is expected this year, however. Highs will be very warm all day long. Our average high is in the lower 60s!
You can see the cooler air already trying to push in on Thursday. Much cooler to the north and west, much warmer to the southeast.
We may see a few showers and storms early Thursday, the chance then decreases during the afternoon.
We have several chance for precipitation through the next several days. Saturday will have the highest chance and it could be a rain/snow mix.
It is going to be MUCH cooler by Friday and temperatures stay that way through much of next week.
On Saturday, snow will start to spread across much of central and western Nebraska. Southern and SE Nebraska will see rain first, but it will try to transition to a rain/snow mix Saturday night into Sunday. Snowfall potential is still being determined, but the first measurable snow of the year is possible for some!
