Winter is coming back

Winter weather headlines are in place for much of Nebraska tonight through Wednesday into early Thursday morning.

Winter Storm Warnings (pink) take up the northwestern half of the state with Winter Weather Advisories (purple) for much of the southern and southeastern half.

Blizzard Warnings aren’t too far away into South Dakota. It’s something we’re watching closely for those in northern Nebraska.

The warnings and advisories (above) are in place for all of Wednesday and may last into very early Thursday morning.

Above are the timelines for when the wind, rain, sleet/ice, and snow will be possible in Lincoln.

The precipitation won’t be an all day event, but it’s possible on and off.

Freezing drizzle and freezing rain is possible with 0.01″ to 0.05″ of ice accumulation possible.

State Forecast Feels Like Loop

The cold will be pushing in Wednesday and will be at its coldest early Thursday morning. The wind chill (above) will be dangerously cold.

Wind Chill

Because of the potential wind and cold, a Wind Chill Advisory (light blue), Wind Chill Warning (light pink), and Wind Chill Watch (light green) are in place Wednesday into Thursday.

2022 Manual Snow Map Gray

After it’s all said and done, the snowfall potential is at it’s highest in northern and western Nebraska.

Central Nebraska may see a few inches of snow and SE Nebraska will only see minimal amounts.
