Woman accused in Lincoln double homicide going to trial next month

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – After a psychological evaluation, a Lincoln woman accused of killing two men with her car will go to trial next month.
On Thursday, Lancaster County District Judge Ryan Post set 28-year-old Taylor Bradley’s bench trial for May 17.
The trial will be conducted by the judge alone.
Bradley was arrested March 27, 2023, after the Lincoln Police Department said she ran over two maintenance workers at an apartment complex near 40th Street and Nebraska Parkway.
The workers – Ronald Gonzales-Ribas and Christopher Karmazin – were pronounced dead at the scene.

In April 2023, a judge found that Bradley was “not mentally competent” to stand trial.
But on Sept. 1, Lancaster County Judge Thomas Zimmerman ruled that Bradley was mentally competent.
In October, Bradley entered a plea of not guilty. The defense planned to argue that Bradley was not responsible for the deaths “by reason of insanity,” according to a court document.

The case was put on pause in February when Post ordered Bradley to have a psychological evaluation before her trial.
The evaluation, which was requested by prosecutors, sought to determine whether Bradley understood the nature of her actions, according to the court filing.
