Woman calls Nebraska hospital to get advice on hurting her baby, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A woman is accused of calling a Nebraska hospital to get advice on how to hurt her baby.

The Grand Island Police Department says officers went to a Wortman Drive apartment building on Friday on a welfare check for a juvenile.

Migel Knipe told them she reached out to Grand Island Regional Medical Center after thinking about choking her baby.

Police said they found a red mark on the 3-month-old’s neck.

The woman then admitted that she may have started applying pressure to her daughter’s neck before stopping to call the hospital.

Knipe also said she was still having thoughts about hurting the infant.

Police made a referral for criminal attempt of first-degree murder, requested an arrest warrant for Knipe and removed the baby from her custody.
