Woman found ‘not mentally competent’ to stand trial in Lincoln double homicide

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The woman accused of running over and killing two men with her car is “not mentally competent” to stand trial, a judge ruled Wednesday.
Taylor Bradley, 27, will be taken to the Lincoln Regional Center for appropriate treatment, according to court documents.
But Judge Laurie Yardley said it’s possible that she could “become competent” to stand trial in the “foreseeable future.”
A competency status hearing has been scheduled for May 31 to determine if Bradley will be able to stand trial.
Bradley is accused of killing 45-year-old Ronald Gonzalez-Ribas and 42-year-old Christopher Karmazin at an apartment complex near 40th Street and Nebraska Parkway.
The victims, who were both maintenance workers at the complex, were struck “more than once,” according to Assistant Police Chief Brian Jackson.
Bradley had also tried to run over a third man, Robert Sargent, with her vehicle, Lincoln Police said.
Police Chief Teresa Ewins said Bradley “purposely” ran over the men.
At a court hearing last Wednesday, Bradley’s charges were upgraded to two counts of first-degree murder.
She was also charged with three counts of using a weapon to commit a felony and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
During the hearing, Bradley became agitated and repeatedly denied the charges as the judge read them.
