LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman was sentenced Wednesday for headbutting a student outside Everett Elementary School.

Mollyjo Taylor, 26, was initially charged with felony child abuse, but she entered a plea deal that amended the charge to a misdemeanor.

A Lancaster County judge sentenced her to a year in jail.  She gets credit for already serving 190 days, court records say.

On May 5, 2023, a teacher was walking her students outside the school when Taylor — who appeared to be intoxicated — approached them.

Police said Taylor started yelling at the students, later lunging at an 8-year-old and headbutting them, causing a “noticeable contusion.”

The teacher grabbed Taylor by the arm to stop her from attacking the other students, police said.

But she slipped away and ran off, according to an affidavit.

Later on, officers found Taylor near 10th and A Streets and took her into custody.
