106-year-old Lincoln woman fulfills birthday wish, meets Scott Frost

It’s the happy ending thousands were waiting to see.

In September, Channel 8 Eyewitness News aired a story about Thelma Chase, a Lincoln woman who wanted to attend her first Husker football game and meet coach Scott Frost as celebration for her 106th birthday.

Tens of thousands of people on social media fell in love with the story, rooting for Thelma’s wishes to become reality. Dozens of viewers called and messaged Channel 8 to offer Nebraska football tickets to Thelma. Ultimately, U-Stop donated two box seats to Thelma and her son for the Ohio State game. UNL also provided her tickets to the Northwestern game.

But the second part of Thelma’s wish – to meet Coach Frost – remained unfulfilled. That is until Friday, when Thelma and her son, Bob Chase, met with Frost inside Memorial Stadium.

So what did Thelma think of the game and her meeting with the coach? Stay tuned to Channel 8 Eyewitness News for more!
