19-year-old killed, another seriously hurt in crash in northeast Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 19-year-old Schuyler teen was killed in a crash on Thursday.

The Stanton County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened east of Clarkson, at the intersection of Highway 15 and 822nd Road.

Deputies say a Toyota SUV was going north on the highway just before 3 p.m., when it made an abrupt left turn for 822nd Road.

The turn brought the SUV into the path of a southbound pickup.

The SUV’s driver, 19-year-old Jeyco Gonzalez, was ejected from his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup, 24-year-old Tyler Regan of O’Neill, was pulled from his truck by firefighters before being flown to a hospital in Omaha.

Deputies say Regan suffered severe injuries but is stable.

The crash was so powerful that the SUV’s front transaxle was ripped from the vehicle and thrown into a ditch, according to the sheriff’s office.

During their investigation, deputies determined that Gonzalez had been driving with a revoked license.
