$2.2 million raised for producers effected by Nebraska wildfires
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Cattlemen Disaster Relief Fund (NCDRF) has received more than $2.2 million as many are recovering from the wildfire disaster. The fund is from more than 2,750 donors across Nebraska, 48 states and five countries.
The funds from the donations will be distributed to producers who suffered property loss or damage in areas where fire was reported through Nebraska Emergency Management Association (NEMA) Watch Center.
There are 25 Nebraska counties that have been reported through the NEMA Watch Center.
When applying, applicants can submit documents relating to agriculture expenses including pens, feed, livestock removal and more.
The NCDRF will close for donations on Tuesday, Sep. 1.
The Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln said they are awestruck with the amount of ways people came together to show support for Nebraska.
