2 injured after school bus and truck hauling cattle collide

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities say two people were injured after a crash involving a school bus and a pickup truck hauling a trailer.

The crash happened Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 39 and GG Rd. in rural Merrick County.

The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office said an investigation concluded the bus driver entered the roadway after stopping at a stop sign and was struck by the pickup truck.

No children were on the bus at the time of the accident.

Both drivers were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The livestock on the trailer were placed in the care of a local rancher until being returned to the owner.
Authorities said the the driver of the school bus was issued a citation for fail to yield to the right away of a vehicle.
