21-year-old sent to prison for manslaughter in shooting of UNL student

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 21-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday for killing a University of Nebraska-Lincoln student in 2022.
Tristan Ferguson received eight to 14 years in prison for the death of 19-year-old Jesse Krausnick.
He pleaded no contest on Feb. 6 to manslaughter and attempted possession of a deadly weapon during a felony.
The deadly shooting happened early in the morning of Nov. 25, 2022, in Imperial in southwest Nebraska.
Krausnick and Ferguson were staying in the same house, according to court documents.
A group of minors had been drinking there after Ferguson used a fake ID to buy a “large amount of alcohol,” authorities said.
Ferguson pointed a shotgun that he thought was unloaded at Krausnick and pulled the trigger, according to an arrest affidavit.
Krausnick was taken to Chase County Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
