40-Year-old Lincoln man arrested for starting fire in apartment laundry room

A 40-year-old Lincoln man is behind bars after intentionally starting a fire in an apartment complex laundry room.

According to Lincoln Police an apartment complex manager for a building near North 26th and Vine Streets noticed smoke in the building just before 9 p.m. Saturday night.

While searching for the origin of the smoke the manager found 40-year-old Jonathan Sisneros in a first floor laundry room with a fire on the floor.

LPD said Sisneros told the manager he started the fire and then ran away, but was quickly caught and detained by the manager until officers arrived.

The apartment complex had to be evacuated for about 40 minutes until the fire was put out and ventilated leaving 25 residents in the cold.

Police arrested Sisneros for first-degree arson.

The fire caused $500 dollars in damage to a trashcan, dryer, and floor tiles in the laundry room.
