56th & Yankee Hill open after months-long closure

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department (LTU) announces the reopening of a major intersection after nearly seven months of construction.

Barriers around the South 56th Street and Yankee Hill Road intersection officially reopened at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The intersection was initially closed in June for a safety project that involved installing a roundabout and LED street lights.

Work alongside the road may continue through December, but traffic is unlikely to be impacted.

The area is expected to be completely finished by spring 2021.
