64-year-old Lincoln woman loses $58,000 in online scam, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 64-year-old Lincoln woman lost $58,000 in an online scam involving her Amazon account, police say.
On Tuesday, the woman got an email saying there was a fraudulent charge on her account.
She then called the number provided in the email and was asked to send $58,000 to a bank account in California.
The woman went to her bank and transferred the money, according to police.
After transferring the money, she called the number back and was told to return to the bank and cancel the transfer.
The bank then told her that she had been scammed, police say.
An investigation is ongoing.
