Cloud, windy and cool today 10/26/2021
Parts of southeast NE are starting off the day with patchy fog and mist. Visibility is below half a mile in some spots, so use extra caution while driving during your morning commute. Bundle the kids up for the bus stop too, because wind chill values are currently in the 30s across the area. Mostly cloudy skies are likely throughout the entire day today thanks to our next weather system that continues to inch closer to the area. This cloud coverage will limit our overall warming and will keep highs in the mid to upper 50s today.
We are also in for a blustery day today with southeasterly winds gusting over 30 mph! Make sure to secure any of those Halloween decorations to ensure they don’t blow away while you are at work.
Overcast skies arrive overnight tonight as well as widespread thunderstorms mainly after midnight. Central NE could see some strong to severe storms, but I expect the storms to weaken before they arrive in southeast NE. The widespread rain will continue into your Wednesday morning resulting in a soggy commute. You definitely will want the rain gear in the morning but even for the rest of the day tomorrow, as the rain is expected to continue all day. Highs will likely occur in the morning with temperatures around the mid-50s, with falling temperatures for the rest of the day.
Flooding is a concern Wednesday due to saturated soils and the potential for another 1-2″ of rain. We dry out and stay breezy for the rest of the week with temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
