Traffic lights temporarily out of service due to car accident at 40th & Normal

Lincoln Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of 40th and Normal on Saturday morning around 1:45.

According to police, the driver hit an electrical box in the area that controls the traffic signals in the intersection.

Stop signs have been placed in the intersection temporarily while crews work to get the signals running again. 

Police are still investigating to determine if alcohol was a factor in the accident. Police are advising drivers to use caution in the area.
