Longtime LSO Captain passes away after battle with cancer

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Longtime Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Captain Joe Lefler passed away on Wednesday after a battle with cancer.

Lefler previously served as a police officer with the Fort Smith Police Department and the Lincoln Police Department and before that was also an active-duty military police officer in the U.S Army.

After 30 years of service, Lefler retired from LSO in 2017.

Lefler is survived by his wife, three sons and their families.
