Man dropped drugs and $68,000 off overpass, Lincoln police say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN-TV) — Police say a Lincoln man dumped $68,000 and 26 THC vape cartridges off an overpass Monday night after evading officers.
Police saw a vehicle driving with a headlight out near First Street and Dawes Avenue shortly after 11 p.m.
They said they followed the car but didn’t turn on the lights. The driver sped up to avoid them, police said.
Officers found the car stopped on the O Street overpass between Ninth and 10th Streets.
They saw the driver, 21-year-old Alex Hernandez, looking down from the overpass, so they thought that he had dropped something off it.
Below, police said they found a backpack with the money, the vape cartridges and a jar of lemon cake THC wax.
Hernandez had $1,600 on him, police said.
He was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of money while violating a drug law, disobeying a traffic control device, obstruction of a peace officer.
