Alexis Markowski named Big Ten Freshman of the Year
The Lincoln native and Pius X graduate won the weekly award eight times this season.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska women’s basketball’s Alexis Markowski was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year on Tuesday morning.
The Lincoln native and Pius X graduate won the weekly award eight times this season. She averaged 13 points per game during the regular season with a career-high performance of 27 points against Iowa. Markowski also ended the regular season with her sixth double-double against Northwestern. No other Big Ten freshman leads their team in both scoring and rebounding.
Markowski, along with guard Jaz Shelley, were named to second-team all-Big Ten.
