LPD identifies victim in fatal motorcycle crash near 70th, Old Cheney

Lincoln Police says 19-year-old William Schnakenberg was killed in a motorcycle crash near S. 70th St. and Old Cheney Rd. Tuesday night.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Police say 19-year-old William Schnakenberg was killed in a motorcycle crash near South 70th Street and Old Cheney Road Tuesday night.

According to officials, Schnakenberg was riding his motorcycle with his uncle Bryan and one other friend when he sped up, lost control of his bike and collided with Bryan. William Schnakenberg then left the road and crashed into a fence, causing him to be ejected from his motorcycle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

LPD says William’s uncle Bryan was also ejected from his bike and is still recovering from serious injuries at a local hospital.

Both riders were wearing helmets and neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have played a factor in the collision, according to Lincoln Police.
