90-year-old Lincoln man continues to work well into retirement

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Jim Johnson says the key to a long, happy life is always being stress-free, drinking lots of root beer floats and working hard at everything.

The 90-year-old works part time at Ace Hardware.

“Supposedly I was retired, but they said if I wanted to, I could come down and work three days a week,” he said.

His daughter Lore Johnson believes that her father will never quite let go of work.

“He’s taught me everything, and he’s been my inspiration,” she said.

Jim Johnson doesn’t believe in spending the rest of his retirement at home and thinks that working will ultimately allow him a longer life.

Johnson said he is hoping to work 20 more years before retiring for real, and only then will he consider traveling around the world.
