NSP: Three juveniles apprehended following pursuit

The Nebraska State Patrol says three juveniles were taken into custody and a stolen car recovered after a pursuit in Polk and Merrick Counties.

At around 7:40 p.m., NSP says a trooper attempted to make a stop on Highway 92 near Shelby for a Toyota Corolla with a tail light out.

The car then came to a stop, but the trooper say the driver fled, after the trooper made contact.

The trooper says he was able to confirm the vehicle was stolen, and pursued the vehicle.

The car reportedly went down county roads, reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour, eventually entering Merrick County on Highway 92.

NSP says the trooper was able to stop the vehicle, after the driver tried to drive through a cornfield and struck irrigation piping.

The trooper and Polk County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to get all three people out of the vehicle safely.

The three juveniles, all of Omaha, were taken into custody.

The driver was booked in Butler County Jail for flight to avoid arrest, possession of stolen property, and other charges.

Another juvenile was returned to Douglas County Youth Services, a third, was cited and released for possession of marijuana and returned home to Omaha.

No names have been released.
