UPDATE: Officials find stolen car in Salt Creek

Lincoln Police said the car found in Salt Creek Wednesday night was stolen last week.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a  report of a vehicle in Salt Creek near 1st and Park streets before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials were preparing for a water rescue, but later learned the car was stolen earlier this month.  They said the driver was gone. 

Police said the car was taken from north Lincoln home near 24th and Superior streets Friday, August 12 in the afternoon.

They said it was stolen from an open garage and the keys were inside of the car.

LPD said there are no suspects at this time.

A little bit of scare in southwest Lincoln tonight.

Someone spotted a car in Salt Creek near 1st and Park streets. Officials were preparing for a water rescue, but when got there, they realized, the car was stolen from Lincoln earlier this month. They say the driver was gone. The search for a suspect now begins.
