Planned Parenthood’s record donation eases concerns

The future may be uncertain for Planned Parenthood, but a lot of funding brings some confidence.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Funding is a bit less of a concern for Planned Parenthood now that they’ve got a huge infusion of cash from MacKenzie Scott, Jeff Bezo’s ex-wife. Out of $275 million donated across the country, Planned Parenthood North Central States gets $20 million, which they say comes at just the right time.

“Abortion access is under attack right here in Nebraska”, says State Executive Director for Nebraska Andi Curry Grubb. “We’re fighting that in the legislature every day right now.”

This means the future is something of a big question mark as politicians argue back and forth. It’s something PPNCS is well aware of.

“We’ve been looking at how we continue to make sure that people can access the care they need, no matter what happens politically or with the Supreme Court”, Grubb says.

Of course, having a great deal of funding in place gives them some latitude, and crosses one concern off the list.

“This gift is a fantastic reminder”, says Grubb, “that we are an organization that is here for our patients, no matter what happens.”

Grubb adds that while the future is far from certain, and “things may change” in terms of the services they can provide, patients can count on having “access to healthcare, no matter what.”
