Driver gets probation for crash that killed two on I-80 in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A trucker has been sentenced to two years of probation for the eight-vehicle crash that killed two people on Interstate 80 last year.
Yorkwind Crawford, 50, of Miami, was also sentenced to 90 days of house arrest on Friday.
The crash happened about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, as thousands headed to Memorial Stadium for the Husker football home opener.
Investigators say Crawford’s semitrailer truck crashed into a line of vehicles that had slowed down to exit at 27th Street.
Mark Kaipust, 41, of La Vista and his 7-year-old son, Taylor, were killed.
Five other people were injured.
Crawford pleaded no contest to misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide in February.
He was originally charged with two class three felonies of reckless/willing motor vehicle homicide.
