Small chance for a passing shower on Sunday
What a nice start to the weekend! Temperatures topped out in the low-60s for most with plenty of sunshine on Saturday. We even saw a few fair-weather cumulus clouds pop up in the heat of the day.
We are watching some high clouds off to the west which will arrive on Saturday evening. These clouds will thicken by Sunday morning, and temperatures will stay on the mild side. We’re forecasting a low near 39° in Lincoln.
I’m anticipating clouds to stick around for the majority of the day on Sunday. A disturbance will be passing by to our north, which will push a cold front through the area. We’re forecasting a high in the middle-60s in Lincoln.
We cannot rule out a passing shower on Sunday, in part due to the cold front. That said, the bulk of the moisture will be to the east, and that is where I expect the majority of any rain to fall.
Meanwhile, central Nebraska will have much drier air for a longer period of time on Sunday. That, coupled with gusty winds will allow for dangerous fire weather conditions. A Fire Weather Warning will be in effect from 11AM through 9PM Sunday for the shaded counties. This includes communities such as Albion, Neligh, Greeley, Ord, and the Tri-Cities.
Monday looks to feature a mix of sun and clouds and slightly cooler temperatures. However, it’ll still be mild.
The pattern turns more unsettled starting Tuesday, where rain showers are possible. Tuesday appears to be our best chance for rain. Showers are also possible on Wednesday, but the best chance will be to our north. Any showers on Thursday will be on their way out.
This will set us for a fantastic weekend, with sunshine and temperatures in the 60s for the Huskers’ Spring Game on Saturday!
