LPD: Suspect crashed stolen vehicle into Wyuka Cemetery fence

Authorities are asking for the public’s help finding a person suspected of stealing a car and crashing into the a fence at a Lincoln cemetery. 

Around 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, Lincoln police officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of N 21st street to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle. 

Police say the victim, a 68-year-old man, used his other vehicle to follow the suspect who stole his 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe, and saw the suspect miss a turn and collide with the wrought iron fence on the west side of Wyuka Cemetery. 

The suspect got out of the crashed car and into another suspect’s vehicle before fleeing the scene, police said. 

The estimated damage to the vehicle and fence is “several thousand dollars.” 

The victim was not able to get a good description of the suspects or their vehicle, and officers are trying to recover surveillance video from the area.
