Nebraska Democrats will pick their candidate to replace Jeff Fortenberry tonight
The nominee won't be officially announced until sometime tomorrow

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Democratic Party is meeting for a closed session Monday night, where it’ll pick a nominee to replace Jeff Fortenberry.
The longtime lawmaker officially resigned as the representative of Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District last week, after he was found guilty of lying about $30,000 illegally donated to his campaign.
Whoever goes on to win June 28’s special election will serve out the rest of Fortenberry’s term.
It’s set to end in January 2023.
An official announcement of the party’s selection won’t be made until tomorrow.
June 28 is also the day Fortenberry is schedule to be sentenced.
