NEGOP nominates Senator Mike Flood for first congressional district

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- Senator Mike Flood was nominated for the first congressional district vacancy by the Nebraska Republican Party on Saturday.
Flood has been endorsed by Governor Pete Ricketts, Nebraska Farm Bureau, and others in his candidacy.
This comes after Jeff Fortenberry resigned from his position.
Senator Mike Flood secured the vote will 24 votes to 5 against opponent John Glen Weaver.
“Well, I am grateful, honored, and humbled to have the full support of the Nebraskan Republican party to be the next nominee in the special elections on June 28th ,” Flood said. “This could be great momentum going into the primary and to earn the trust and the endorsement of the executive committee of my own party, the one that i’m seeking the nomination for in May. I think its a huge boost for the campaign and it speaks well about our chances in November.”
Senator Pansing Brooks is nominated as the Democratic party’s selection for the seat and both parties will face off for special elections on June 28th.
