Diesel technology and welding building coming to SCC’s Milford campus

A new facility was announced for Southeast Community College’s Milford campus.

There was a groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning.

The 60,000 square foot building will be for Diesel Technology and Welding students.

Officials say it will be a big boost for the future of these two industries here in Nebraska.

“Over the next few years, the number of diesel truck technology positions is expected to increase by 14 percent and the number of farm equipment technicians is expected to increase by 8 percent, which will only magnify the existing skills gap,” said Southeast Community College President Paul Illich.

The size of the facility will allow for more students to enroll in these programs.

The project is expected to be completed by December of 2019.
