Grand Island man doing own investigation of burglary kidnapped teen, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Grand Island man was arrested Thursday after he held a teen at gunpoint and kidnapped him, police say.

On April 17, 26-year-old Christopher Holt reported a burglary at his home in Grand Island.  Holt told officers that cash and shoes were missing, according to police.

After filing a report, Holt began to identify potential suspects and track them down while police were investigating the burglary.

On Wednesday, Holt assaulted a 16-year-old boy who was associated with the potential suspects, police say.

Holt then held the teen at gunpoint, forced him into his vehicle and took him back to his home.

Eventually, the teen was able to escape and ran to a neighboring home to ask for help.  The teen had visible injuries, police say.

On Thursday, officers found Holt and arrested him.  Holt had a handgun in his possession when he was arrested.

Police gathered evidence to arrest Holt on suspicion of kidnapping and threats while he was in custody on the handgun charges.

Holt was charged on suspicion of obstructing a government operation, kidnapping, terroristic threats, use of weapons in the commission of a felony and third-degree assault.
