Two injured in crash near Blair; teen in extremely critical condition
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An 18-year-old from Fremont was in extremely critical condition after a crash near Blair on Sunday.
Eduard Bruwer, 34, of Blair was also injured, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
The teen, Madison Everitt, was going west on U.S. Highway 30 when her Jeep crossed the center line and collided “nearly head-on” with Bruwer’s van, Sheriff Mike Robinson said.
Everitt and Bruwer were taken to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Everitt suffered a catastrophic brain injury that she will not recover from, according to a release from Fremont Public Schools.
Superintendent Mark Shepard said, “this is a tragic loss for FHS, the school district and our community.”
A crisis team was made available to students on Monday at Fremont High School.
“Maddie was involved in many activities including dance, choir, theater and track,” stated Myron Sikora, Fremont High School principal. “She was a great student and friend to many – she will be greatly missed.”
