Looking closer at threat of Thursday night storms
Clouds will be on the increase from west to east today. Expect skies to become mostly cloudy for the afternoon.
Temperatures will climb into the upper 70s to lower 80s.
A scattered shower and thunderstorm will be possible for the afternoon, although I think most areas in southeast Nebraska will remain dry.
Later Thursday night, the threat for showers and thunderstorms will increase.
Several computer models suggest that a few thunderstorms will develop in northern Nebraska this evening. They also suggest that the thunderstorms become a cluster of storms and dive southeast, reaching Interstate 80 between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.
The cluster would exit the state between midnight and 1 a.m. Friday.
I think it is key to know that not all computer models support this idea.
Some keep thunderstorms in south-central Nebraska, and creep them eastward through the night, but perhaps not as strong.
This is why you should pay attention to the forecast later this afternoon and early evening.
