Overcast, Cooler for Thursday Afternoon

Overcast skies continue for the rest of our Thursday afternoon, with a small chance of a shower. Highs remain well below average in southeast Nebraska for late July, with most seeing the 70s this afternoon.

StormCast shows chances for showers and storms clearning out for the majority of state on Thursday afternoon. Another round of showers and thunderstorms will move into southeast Nebraska by early Friday morning.

While severe potential is low, the chance for localized flooding remains on the table as storms moving through on Friday morning could be efficient rain makers. Expect a sharp cut off from those who see these higher totals, and those who see little measurable moisture.

Highs statewide will range from the lower 70s in eastern Nebraska to the upper 80s in portions of the panhandle. Overcast skies will continue to keep a lid on our temperatures for those in the eastern two-thirds of the state.

Mostly cloudy skies for the rest of the afternoon for Lincoln, as high temperatures look to be a couple of degrees warmer than Wednesday.

Most of the state will see overnight temperatures in the 60s alongside the chance for showers and an occasional thunderstorm in southeast Nebraska.

Overcast skies will continue into the overnight for the Capital City, with chances for showers and thunderstorms increasing after midnight.

Heading into the weekend, relief from the heat will come to a close. Feels-like temperatures return to the triple digits through the weekend and into the state of next week.

Our latest stretch of warmer temperatures peaks on Monday, before returning to seasonal high temperatures for the majority of next week. Sporadic storm chances are possible in the long-term forecast, though storm timing and location will continue to be refined.
