A quieter pattern overnight Saturday and into Sunday

Saturday turned out to be a very active day for some. Isolated storms that developed in the mid-afternoon intensified rapidly. These storms dropped very large hail and resulted in a few tornado reports.

Storm Reports

Things have quieted down since Saturday afternoon, and we expect quiet conditions for the rest of the evening. Skies should be mostly clear to partly cloudy overnight and into Sunday morning. A morning shower cannot be ruled out, but I believe the daytime hours are mostly dry on Sunday. Low temperatures should be in the upper-60s in Lincoln on Sunday morning.

Saturday Night Forecast

Sunday does appear to feature some sunshine, and it will be hot and muggy! The humidity will make the air feel several degrees warmer than the actual air temperature, which is forecast to be in the low to mid-90s.

Sunday Forecast

By late afternoon and evening, we are watching the potential for some more thunderstorm development in western Nebraska. Even these storms could be on the stronger side. As a result, the Storm Prediction Center has placed western Nebraska under a “slight” risk for severe weather on Sunday night, with damaging winds and hail being the main issue.

Severe Weather Outlook

All indications point towards these storms weakening overnight and into Monday morning, arriving in eastern Nebraska as a widely scattered batch of showers. We do not expect severe weather in Lincoln on Sunday evening.

After Sunday, a heat wave takes over for many days on our 10-Day Outlook. On Monday, we could be dealing with actual air temperatures in the triple-digits!
