LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Gov. Pete Ricketts will not be heading to Connecticut on Tuesday as originally planned.

He was set to attend a fundraiser for a Republican gubernatorial candidate, which drew criticism from state Democrats.

They say Ricketts is an “extremist,” given his pro-gun rights and anti-abortion beliefs.

Democrats began planning a “Rally for Choice and Gun Safety” in protest of his visit. The rally will still happen despite the trip’s cancelation.

The candidate’s senior adviser says a scheduling conflict is preventing Ricketts from attending the fundraiser.
