Hickman community rallies behind local man in need

The town of Hickman is rallying behind a volunteer firefighter who is battling cancer.

Bruce Messenger was a volunteer firefighter for the town of Hickman for over 40 years.

Messenger was diagnosed with Clear Cell Carcinoma back in 2016.

It has since forced him to retire, and he is falling behind on medical payments.

The community wanted to help out, so a spaghetti feed and silent auction was held in his honor.

“We want to do all we can to help him out and to help him pay his medical bills, and to make sure that he can get taken care of and get the treatment that he deserves.”

If you are interested in sending him a donation, Hickman Fire and Rescue set up a donation fund for Bruce at First State Bank.
