Local youth program celebrates first year of completion

A Lincoln youth program, Joven Noble and Latina Leaders, is celebrating one year of completion for its members.

“The purpose of the program is to keep students out of trouble, keep them motivated, keep them on the right path. The goal is to get them to college,” said Steve Solorio, one of the program coordinators.

On Sunday, a ceremony was held for the middle and high school students who are a part of the program.

Parents, teachers, LPS faculty an volunteer community members were in attendance.

Solorio hopes events like these help to strengthen the program moving forward.

“We started this program with only 6 to 8 students at the beginning, and now to have almost 300 students enrolled in the program, and having five middle schools and four high schools, it was just an amazing feeling,” said Solorio.

This is the first year of the program and leaders hope to grow it even more in the future!
