Lincoln Police warns about package thieves

Lincoln Police has a warning for package thieves, with Holiday deliveries starting to come in.

They see a spike in stolen packages, especially from porches.

Last year, more than a thousand thefts were reported, the highest number in the last decade.

“We expect the thefts of these delivered packages to start to rise especially with people ordering gifts for the holidays, so try to use and alternative option so you’re not a victim of one of these thefts,” said LPD Officer Angela Sands.

Police estimate more than $50,000 worth of items were stolen last year.

They say the increase may be related to the emergence of online shopping.
