LPS teacher honored with distinguished award

A special teacher was honored by LPS Friday night.

Every fall Lincoln Public Schools gathers together and officially honors the latest winner of the Scottish Rite Distinguished Teacher Award.

The winner this year was longtime Lincoln Southwest English teacher Terry Abrahams.

She has been a teacher with LPS since 1991.

“I am so hopeful for the future, that people still come to education and want to work with young people. They give me the motivation. I think my motivation comes from them,” said Abrahams.

The award comes with a $5,000 dollar cash prize, donated by the local chapter of the Scottish Rite organization.

It was first awarded back in 1965.
