Storm blows off roof of a Lincoln car wash, causing traffic delays

Heavy winds during Sunday night’s storm blew the roof off of a local car wash.
The massive storm rolled through Lincoln just before 6 pm Sunday night.
Jetsplash car wash off of Pioneers Blvd and South 10th street was hit hard.
“That was scary. It was really scary,” said Brenton Carlen, manager at Jetsplash car wash.
The roof blew off, and ended up in the road, causing traffic delays.
“We got everybody out of here at about 5:30 pm and then at about 6 or 6:30 pm I started getting text messages from all the employees saying that the roof had blown off. And so I checked our cameras and of course, our roof had blown off,” said Carlen.
After seeing the damage, Carlen is just glad that no one was inside when it happened.
“We could have had a full staff here when everything happened so I’m just glad that all the guys made it out safe.”
Lincoln Fire and Rescue and Lincoln Police helped to move the debris off the road and into the Jetsplash parking lot.
They are still assessing damage, and the next few days will be full of cleaning up.
“We got a lot of rain inside the tunnel and the building so we’ve just got to get everyone in here. There’s going to be hours to go around. They can come in and do some honest hard work for us (cleaning up).”
Carlen says he’s just not sure when Jetsplash will be able to be reopened.
“There’s not much we can do about it right now, right now we’re just assessing the damage, just kind of figuring out what to do over the next couple of days,” said Carlen.
