Another day, another round of heat and humidity

After a very warm weekend, the hot stretch of weather continues into Monday. Heat Advisories are posted across all of central and eastern Nebraska at least through Monday afternoon.

Heat Advisory

Monday is likely to be another scorcher, with highs in the upper-90s. Factor in the humidity, and we’re likely dealing with a heat index, or the “feels-like” temperature, upwards of 105° at some points during the afternoon. Skies will be mostly sunny on Monday, and we also expect breezy conditions.

Monday Forecast

Some relief from the heat and humidity is in sight, and it will arrive in the form of a cold front. That front will be approaching on Monday, and it could spark some isolated storms to our west late Monday afternoon and evening.

While an isolated late afternoon storm is not impossible near the Tri-Cities in the late afternoon, storms are more likely to arrive later on in the evening. The latest data point toward the majority of these storms dying out before they would arrive in Lincoln.

Stormcast Monday Afternoon

We’re keeping the forecast dry in Lincoln on Monday as a result. There’s a very small chance for an overnight or early morning shower on Tuesday morning. However, the coverage of these storms, if they can even survive overnight, will be very sparse. Lows on Tuesday morning should be in the upper-70s.

Monday Night Forecast

The front will be hanging out to our south on Tuesday and Wednesday. As a result, the better rain chances are to our south on Tuesday and Wednesday. That said, rain chances start to increase once again on Thursday as the front slides back through the area. Even then, we’re only expecting isolated showers and storms on Thursday at this time.
