Two arrested after wrong-way chase on I-80 near North Platte

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two people were arrested after authorities say they led police on a pursuit the wrong way down Interstate 80.

Friday around 11:45 p.m., the North Platte Police Department responded to a disturbance at The Flying J truck stop.

A Dodge Durango fled from the scene, going east on the interstate.

When the Nebraska State Patrol joined North Platte Police in the chase, the car turned around and began driving west in the eastbound lanes.

A state trooper performed a tactical vehicle intervention, bringing the car to a stop about 8 miles east of North Platte.

Police arrested Shawn Woods, 46, of Denver on suspicion of willful reckless driving, second-degree assault, resisting arrest using a deadly weapon, numerous traffic violations and an outstanding warrant.

The passenger, 41-year-old Alandra Tellers of Fort Collins, Colorado, was arrested in relation to the prior disturbance.
