Back to the 90°s this week; Multiple days feeling like it is 100°+

A nice break from the heat over the weekend as high temperatures were only in the 80°s Saturday and Sunday.  That comes to an end today.  Temperatures go back above normal and remain that way through the weekend.

Sunny skies to start the work week.  This will send temperatures in to the lower to middle 90°s for Monday afternoon.  Humidity will be climbing as dew points reach the middle and upper 60°s.  This will push peak heat indices to the middle 90°s to near 100° late Monday afternoon.

Dma Today High

Mostly clear skies are expected tonight.  Temperatures will only drop to the lower 70°s.

A cold front is projected to pass through southeast Nebraska Tuesday.  Ahead of the front, compressional warming will send temperatures in to the upper 90°s to near 100°.  Dew points should remain the same as Monday, sending the heat index to 98° to 105° Tuesday.

Heat and humidity will stick around through the work week and in to the weekend.  Afternoon temperatures will be in the middle to upper 90°s for most of the work week.

Dma Weekly Evapotranspiration

The next chance of rain worth mentioning comes early next week.  In the meantime, continue to water your lawn.  Southeast Nebraska soils will lose 2″+ of moisture this week due to evaporation and evapotranspiration.  Computer models are only projecting a few hundredths of an inch of rain over the next seven days.
