More heat builds heading toward the weekend

Wednesday was not a bad day for any outdoor plans. Temperatures were in the upper 80s to low 90s across southeast Nebraska, and the humidity wasn’t all that bad.

We expect clear skies overnight and into Thursday morning, with a low temperature near 66 in Lincoln.

Wednesday Night Forecast

While Lincoln topped out at 93 on Wednesday, we’re only getting warmer as we inch closer to the weekend. High temperatures on Thursday will be in the mid-90s across eastern Nebraska. We expect mostly sunny skies for the day.

Thursday Forecast

On Thursday afternoon and evening, we’ll likely be watching some isolated thunderstorm development in western Nebraska. These will try to make an eastward run toward central and eastern Nebraska.

I suspect that a few of these may be able to make it to central Nebraska, near the Tri Cities. However, I have a hard time thinking many will make it to Lincoln. So while there’s a very small chance for a late isolated shower on Thursday, the more likely scenario is that all of the activity remains out west.

Stormcast Thursday Evening

Temperatures continue to climb into Friday and Saturday. We may be dealing with 100-plus-degree temperatures on Saturday for some areas. We keep very small rain chances through the weekend as well, but understand that the coverage of any storms won’t be all that great on most days.
