Lincoln Saltdogs heading to playoffs for the first time in five years
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Saltdogs are heading to the playoffs for the first time in five years.
They clinched the spot on Monday by defeating the Sioux City Explorers in the final game of the regular season.
This year’s team ended its season by winning eight of the last nine games.

The Saltdogs are now set to face the Kansas City Monarchs in the best-of-three divisional playoff series starting on Wednesday.
Haymarket Park in Lincoln will host the first game before the series moves to Kansas City for game two and a potential game three.

If the Saltdogs defeat the Monarchs, they will go on to play either the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks or the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
The Saltdogs’ last trip to the playoffs happened in 2017, when they ended up losing to Winnipeg.
They snagged their first and only American Association championship in 2009 by defeating the Pensacola Pelicans, who no longer exist.
