Project to renovate downtown Lincoln receives public input

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)  – Downtown Lincoln will experience renovations in the next couple years.

On Tuesday, Lincoln’s Planning Department, the Urban Development Department and the Downtown Lincoln Association hosted the second open house on the Downtown Lincoln Corridors Projects.

The first public meeting was held in July.

The project would cover O Street from the 9th to 14th corridors.

Renovations will include signs, decorations, a festival area and places to sit and enjoy downtown.

During the meeting, developers received public comments and input on the planned concepts.

“What we want to be able to do is create an environment where people want to linger,” said Dan Marvin, Lincoln’s urban development director.

Planners seek to make downtown more accessible, as well as find a balance between pedestrian and vehicular mobility.

After meeting with the public, the city agencies will start to wrap up the planning phase.

The construction phase is anticipated to start by fall of next year or the beginning of 2024.
