LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) -Ben and Jerry’s is rebranding one of its flavors to encourage young, black voters to take part in the mid-term elections.

“Change is brewing” came out last year to promote public safety reform.

The latest package has a new design, but the ice cream is the same.

It’s cold brew coffee ice cream with marshmallows and fudge brownie pieces.

The new version arrives on store shelves in the next few weeks.

It will also be distributed at historically black colleges and universities as well as in large cities and rural communities in southern states.

In 2020, 158.4 million citizens, almost two-thirds of estimated eligible voters, voted in the presidential elections.

The number represented a higher than average turnout, with people voting in numbers not seen since 1980 and possibly well before.

Here in Nebraska, the 2020 election saw over 1.3 million eligible voters.

4.1% were Black or African American.
